San Diego Central Seventh-day Adventist Church

A Foretaste of Heaven

About Us

WELCOME

Welcome to the San Diego Central Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Our church is growing! It is vibrant! We are excited to be together!

Our vision is that we are to be a foretaste of Heaven! We are passionate about our love for Jesus because we accept Christ's sacrifice on the cross.

Our church family is a blend of many cultures and languages, including Caucasian, Korean, Filipino, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, Singaporean, African, African American, Pacific Islander, Caribbean, South American, Indian, Ukrainian, and  Northern, Western, and Eastern European.

We have come together as a result of a merger between four pervious church groups. Although each of those previous groups had a long history in San Diego, we officially formed our new church family on November 5, 2011, taking on the new name of San Diego Central Seventh-day Adventist Church. We call ourselves "San Diego Central" because we are located centrally in San Diego County.

Come see what Jesus is doing in our church family because of what He is doing in our individual lives. We hope to see you soon! A warm, friendly greeting is awaiting you at the front door!

OUR HISTORY

The San Diego Central Seventh-day Adventist Church is located in Central San Diego County, within the community of Poway, California.

Our church family has a history that you may be interested in knowing. On November 5, 2011, we officially became the newest Seventh-day Adventist Church in San Diego County. After over a year of talks, planning, and prayer, four groups merged to create a brand new church.

The four groups were the Poway SDA Church (with the North County Filipino Adventist Group), the San Diego Korean SDA Church, and Growing Vine Ministries. When talks began about the merger, it became clear that God was, indeed, leading. We selected our name based on the geographical fact that our church facility is located in the heart of Central San Diego County. The location of our church on Pomerado Road is actually the original location of the former Poway SDA Church.

Throughout the year, and as we reminisce about our annual anniversary, we are praising God for our new church family, our new church building, and our healthy growth. We honor and celebrate our 50+ year history of our ministry in the Poway community, and our 40+ year history of our Korean ministry in San Diego.

The San Diego Central Seventh-day Adventist Church is part of a world-wide organization with more than 20 million members in countries around the world.  We would be happy to have you join us in worship or at one of our upcoming church events.

About the Seventh-Day Adventist Church

The Seventh-day Adventist Church is a Protestant Christian denomination with approximately 21 million members worldwide, including over 1.2 million members in North America.

The Seventh-day Adventist Church seeks to enhance quality of life for all people in our communities, adhering to the ideals described by the Bible. We seek to share both our faith in God and the church's commitment to the betterment of all human beings.

Our doors are always open to the community and to anyone who wishes to worship in one of our more than 151,000 Seventh-day Adventist congregations around the world.

The Seventh-day Adventist Church got its name from the practice and command from God in scripture to remember the seventh day and to keep it holy. This practice was started by God and is documented in scripture through the creation story, the ten commandments, the New Testament example of Jesus, and the practice that will be in Heaven as described in Revelation.

The fundamental beliefs can be organized into six categories of doctrine as outlined in Scripture: God, man, salvation, the church, daily Christian life, and the events of the last days to bring about restoration from sin.

Adventists believe a Trinity of three persons—the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit—make up one God. Salvation is possible because Jesus, the Son, came to earth as a baby in Bethlehem and lived a sinless life in accordance with His Father's will. When Jesus was crucified for the sins of the people of the world and arose from the dead on the third day, victory was won for everyone.

When Jesus returned to heaven following the resurrection, He left the Holy Spirit to serve as our Comforter and Counselor. He promised to return to earth a second time to complete His plan of salvation and take His people to heaven. Adventists are among the believers who look forward to that day.

Adventists believe that God is concerned with the quality of human life, and that everything—the way we live, eat, speak, think, treat each other, and care for the world around us—is part of His plan. Our families, our children, our jobs, our talents, our money, and our time are all important to Him.
